Valentine's Day Surprise

Dave surprised me last night with take-out from the Outback and flowers! I think this was even better than Christmas:)

1st Fondant Cake (Disaster!)

I will start by saying fondant is MUCH harder than it looks and to top it off my first cake was a square with edges and not a nice round cake! It's very hard to stretch that stuff around the edges without ripping it. I made this cake for Dave for Valentine's Day at my class last night. In the photo, there is still kleenex in the bows to help hold their shape until the fondant dries and I ran out of time and didn't get to finish the border around the bottom of the cake, but this is the idea of what it looked like in the end. I sure hope I have better luck with the round tiered wedding cake I will do in 2 weeks!
