Pumpkin Carving 2010

The kids were all super freaked out by "the pumpkin guts" as they called it. I really thought they would have enjoyed the scooping part a little more!

Homecoming Parade and Pumpkins!

Georgia promised me she felt good enough to venture out to the homecoming parade yesterday afternoon. She looked really good...though hadn't eaten anything but sherbet since Tuesday evening. Still, we agreed she could go. The parade was fun and I still can't believe how much candy people gave out. The kids collected a bucket each. Lets put it this way. If we were staying in MI for Halloween this year, we wouldn't need to by anymore candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters!

For the second year in a row, Georgia got pegged in the face with a piece of flying candy during the parade. Last year it was through the window of our car! It caused a little bleeding too! Poor thing. Wyatt couldn't believe it was "raining candy" and that he could pick up as much as he wanted! He was in a daze the entire time.

After the parade, we went into Romeo to pick out pumpkins to carve. I've always wanted one of those giant pumpkins and after enough begging, I finally talked Dave into getting me one:) So we bought a 100+ lb pumpkin and will attempt to carve it sometime today.

Georgia had a fever last night which shot up to 102 by 2 a.m. It's the first fever she's had since surgery so maybe we pushed it by taking her out yesterday. We're having a pajama day today to make up for it. She seems to be feeling better this morning and her fever is gone.

It's fall on the farm again!

Well, it's fall on the farm. We decorated for Halloween the first time ever this year. A farmer neighbor gave us 70 free pumpkins, and my girlfriend game me a bunch of cornhusks. Together they made a lovely display for our front porch. Georgia was feeling better this aftenoon so we went outside to wait for Gracie to get off the bus. Georgia had a few visitors this afternoon. Marci, Maxx and Miss Linda brought her pudding, a movie, a rose, coloring books and big balloons. She was thrilled! That was so sweet of them to think of her and it just made her day. Now we are winding down for the eveing with baths and dinner. Tomorrow is the homecoming parade and if Georgia feels up to it, we will all go down to New Haven to watch.

Georgia's surgery

Bye bye tonsils and adnoids!! Georgia was a trooper and did not shed a single tear:)

New computer and wireless internet!

This means more frequent post with lots and lots of photos! It used to take me forever to upload a photo and now with a new computer and wireless internet, it should be a breeze. I'm still in the process of getting all my old photos from the other computer and that might be quite the process! For now, here are a few new ones. Gracie and I took a trip to Blake's Apple Orchard with her class. Georgia got her tonsils and adnoids out yesterday and I got my very own 4-wheeler. That's our update from this week. I'll post more school photos when I can.

Cakes Galore!!

We had a triple birthday party this weekend. I made a garden theme cupcake spread for my friend Linda and a little "corn-on-the cob" cupcake plate to go with it. For her daughter Marci, I made a Tinkerbell cake. Seems like all the little girls want a doll cake these days:)

The kids had a blast at the party. There was a bouncy house, waterballon games, battery operated cars, a pool, a trampoline and the best food I've had all summer. Way to go Linda!

Poor Georgia threw up near the end of the party so we had to leave. I should have guessed something was wrong when she didn't eat any food and then refused cake and ice cream. Those take-home party buckets sure came in handy for the ride home! LOL! She's had a fever of 103 since the party. Gracie's was 102 for about 12 hours but she's all better now.

School starts in one week and we are all getting very excited! Georgia will be in kindergarten all day and Gracie will be in her 2nd year of preschool all afternoon 5 days a week. Wyatt will be napping from 12-3 as usually (I hope) and I'll be all alone for most of every afternoon! Wow, think of all the chores I'll be able to get done without any distractions! Yes, we are looking forward to a very good school year.

Gracie's 4th birthday

Gracie had a wonderful 4th birthday. She really wanted it to be a "cow" themed birthday so we did our best:) She received lots of really neat presents including a real big girl bed. It was a fun filled day with tons of friends over for cake and swimming in the pool. The weather was even perfect!!

Our busy summer so far..,

We had a super fun time in Pennsylvania visiting Grandma Dot & Grandpa Ed, Aunt Nancy & Uncle Gary, Alicia and Derek. Dave took Bridge Builders (our diversity and tolerance program) to Deleware while we were there so it was a little bit of work for him in addition to a fun vacation. He spoke at a HOBY event at Wesley College in Dover, DE. Those are his old stopping grounds so he had a great time being back. It's not a PA trip without our yearly trip to Hershey as well. So we stopped by Chocolate World on our way home. Tons of chocolate and tons of fun! We swam in the hotel pool, ate delicious food at Aunt Nancy and Uncle Gary's and did quite a bit of goofing around in the yard with the hose and trampoline!

We had a wonderful 4th of July and enjoyed a week long visit from my mom, sister Annie & Joe and my niece Sidda. We swam in our new pool, visited Detroit for dinner and evening stroll along the river, petted the animals at the farm up the road and ate and ate and ate like kings and queens. Dave put on quite the fireworks show for us on the 4th. He really loves to light things on fire and looks forward to doing fireworks all year! We miss our WA family lots and can't wait to get to visit them in Oct and Nov this year.

The new pool

We had a wonderful visit from mom, Annie, Joe and Sidda last week. Grandma Betty was so sweet and bought us a swimming pool just in time for their visit and our week of 90+ degree weather!!

Sharpie our new puppy

Last Thursday we got a new puppy. He is the puppy of our dreams. He loves the children and is so attached that he follows them everywhere, particularly Georgia. He's is a 42 pound, 4 month old Giant Schnauzer. We are in love! Although I could have done without him helping himself to my espresso machine last night!

My wild garden!

I may have gotten a little carried away in the beginning and not paid much attention to spacing the tiny plants. Oops! This is 1 of the 3 garden boxes Dave built me. They are getting crowded! Oh well, I love all the green!!!

Landscaping finally done!

Well folks, in 2 weeks Dave and I were landscaping crazies. Dave built me 3 garden boxes and we got them all planted. We disced our yard (again..the seed washed away last year). We moved a ton of rocks, planted a 30 holly hedge, sarcoxie shrubs, zebra grass, hung flower baskets, and put down 10,200 sf of sod. It's been a complete yard makeover and we are exhausted!! I'll try to snap a few more photos but can only post one at a time with my phone.

The cake

Chocolate cake with homemade chocolate cream cheese filling per Georgia's request. The turrets are made of rice krispies and covered in fondant. Yes, the kids ate a bit of those too:)

The new hobby

Looks like I'm the only one without a 4-wheeler:) someone has to stay back and take all the pictures:)
